Maria DiGiovanni
DVM
|
|
Maria has been around horses almost her entire life. She worked as an
instructor with the 4H Horse Club Handicapped Riders Program while in high
school. This allowed her to work off her riding lessons. Before and during
her college years she was also a Co-Manager for a summer horsemanship camp
for girls in New Hampshire. Maria received her undergraduate degree in
1990 from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and went on to receive her D.V.M.
in 1994 from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in
Ithaca, N.Y. She completed an internship at Manor Equine Hospital, a
full-service equine ambulatory and surgical referral practice in Monkton, MD
where she was responsible for medical and surgical clinical case care,
ambulatory and emergency services, and anesthesia induction, maintenance and
recovery. She then went to work for a practice in Clifton VA, where she
continued to provide ambulatory farm calls and emergency services.
Maria moved to the Southern Pines area in 2001 when she and her husband
were assigned to Fort Bragg, N.C. Maria’s husband, David Casey, was an
orthopedic surgeon for the Army until their military obligation was
fulfilled in 2005. They both enjoyed living in Southern Pines so much that
they decided to make this their permanent home, and after a brief one-year
detour to NYC for David’s fellowship year, they have returned to Southern
Pines where Maria’s husband is now a partner in the Pinehurst Surgical
Clinic and Maria joined Carolina Equine Clinic as a part-time associate
veterinarian. She is enjoying getting to know our clients and providing
ambulatory services, client education and hospital clinical case care. Maria
and David have 3 sons and reside in Pinehurst. |
